Obituary for Michael Diggs
God called his name softly that no one else could hear, and no one heard the footsteps of the Angel drawing near….On August 3, 2019, Michael Diggs departed this life at Centra Southside Hospital, Farmville, VA.

“Mike” was born November 17, 1958 to Henry and Marjorie Love Diggs who preceded him in dath, along with his sister, Earnestine Love; grandparents, William and Dorothy Love; two uncles, Whelon and Woodrow (Pot) Love; step-daughter, Bridget Casper and son-in-law, Anthony Tucker.

“Mike” was educated for a period of time in New York City School System. He worked with his dad in Brooklyn in the automotive field. Upon coming to Virginia he helped his grandparents on the farm before working at Weston’s Motel for a short period of time, then working for Arena Trucking 10 plus years until his health began to fail.

“Mike” love cooking and was always known for having a pot of beans on the stove. He also loved fishing and his beloved dog “La-La”.

On September 18, 2013 he married Barbara Williams, although they had been together for 25 plus years before their union.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Barbara Diggs of Farmville, VA; one sister, Adrienne Diggs (Allah) of Bellmawr, NJ; two brothers, Glendon Diggs (Lillie) of Crewe, VA and Wallace Diggs of Brooklyn, NY; two step-daughters, Audreynette Tucker and Catrice Williams; three grandsons, Quandell, ReQuan and Kendrick; three granddaughters, ShaCola, Ditreka and Briana; four sisters-in-law, Hattie Divens, Lillie Diggs, Mable Dodson and Vanessa Carroll; five brothers-in-law, Allah Mathematics, James Williams, David Dodson, Charles Carroll and Russell Williams; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home. Interment is private.

W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.
