Hermenia Harris “Little Baby” was born January 27, 1933 in Crewe, VA. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Myrtis Gray. She answered her Master’s summons quietly on Thursday morning, July 19, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Crewe, VA.

She was educated in the Nottoway County public school system. Hermenia was baptized at an early age and joined the Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

In 1950, Hermenia was united in marriage to Lewis Berkley. To this union two children were born, Myrtis and Lewis respectively. On April 12, 1958 she was united in Holy Matrimony to James “Nick” Harris. To this union two sons were born, James Jr. and Eddie respectively.

Hermenia was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than fifty-five years. During those years, she worked for several Virginia state facilities, Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC, but she was especially attached to her private duty assignments. She received many service acknowledgements for performances as an outstanding nurse.
