Obituary for Okema Annette Williams
On January 20, 1957, God blessed us with a gem. She was named Okema Annette Williams, born to Frank Lee Williams and Pauline Virginia (Lee) Williams in Rice, VA. Okema was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Alice Coleman, known as “Lil Bit”; a brother, Arthur Lee Williams, known as “Strumbone or Strummy”; and a nephew, Marvin Barbour.

Okema received her education in the Nottoway County public school system. She accepted Christ at a young age and joined the Fourth Mt Zion Baptist Church in Crewe, VA. She was employed for over eight years at the Craddock and Terry Shoe Factory in Blackstone, VA.

Okema was fondly known as “Buck” and was well known in her community. She was a very quiet and giving person. “Buck” departed this life on February 25, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Chesterfield, VA. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three brothers, Steve Palmer of Rice, VA, Roy Williams of Crewe, VA and Reverend Larry Williams of Jetersville, VA; one sister, Flossie Robertson of Victoria, VA; three uncles, Odell, Rufus and Michael Lee of Richmond, VA; two aunts, Eva Hurte (Stewart) and Alice Conley of Richmond, VA; seven nephews, Darrin Coleman of Crewe, VA, Jacoby Williams of Crewe, VA, Rodriquez Williams of Rice, VA, Anthony Robertson of Victoria, VA, Byron Williams of Clarksville, TN, Marcus Barbour of Honolulu, HI and Marlon Barbour of South Boston, VA; three nieces, Tara Robertson of South Hill, VA, Okema Williams of Atlanta, GA and Serena Steele of Farmville, VA; a host of loving cousins and devoted friends.
