Obituary for Leonard "Leon" Wade
Leonard (Leon) Benjamin Wade entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia. He was born December 7, 1956 to the late Deacon Leroy and Virginia Wade in Amelia, Virginia. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Robin Wade and step-mother Shirley Wade.

At an early age, Leonard was baptized and joined Promise Land Baptist Church (Amelia, Virginia). He graduated from Amelia County High School in 1975, where he was active in many clubs and organizations. He went on to attend Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia.

Leonard retired as a Lieutenant Corrections Officer from the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice with twenty-five years of service. In his role, he was able to communicate with hearing-impaired youth using American Sign Language. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive bodybuilding and spending time with family and friends.

Leonard leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of twenty-five years Sheryl Jackson-Wade; daughter, Morgan Wade; sister, Belinda Taylor (Shirley Jr.); brother, Mark Williamson; uncles, Little Thomas Wade (Florence), Isaac Johnson (Arlene); aunts, Lillie Mae Taylor (Edward), Blanche Wade, Julia Johnson, Mary Johnson, Dale Johnson; mother-in-law, Rosetta Jackson; brother-in-law, Marc Jackson; nephews, Cordell Green Sr. (Dasha), Salanda Henderson, Cordell Green, Jr., Cameron Green, Jacob Valesquez, Isaac Valesquez; nieces, Katrina Valesquez (Pablo), Theresa Taylor, Alexia Taylor; and a host of cousins, relatives, friends and devoted classmate Glen Wilkerson.

Funeral Services Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment church cemetery.
