Obituary for Charles Edward Meredith
God’s grace and mercy was strongly bestowed upon Charles E. Meredith in the early morning hours of August 3, 2018 at 5:20 a.m. at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg, VA. Charles, son of Bernice Meredith Bullock and Charlie Bryce Walker was born on December 30, 1944 in LaCrosse, VA.
Charles was baptized and joined First Baptist Church in LaCrosse, VA at an early age. He attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools and Southside Skilled Training School in Crewe, VA. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1965.
Charles married Mildred LaVerne Robertson on August 20, 1966. To this union was born one daughter, Angela LaVerne Meredith-Edmonds.
Charles worked as a Correctional Officer for the Virginia department of Corrections, CSX Railroad and retired from Fort Pickett in 2009. He loved fishing.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Calvin Rudolph Bullock; and one grandson Antowan LaVar Edmonds. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughter, Angela LaVerne Meredith-Edmonds (Richard) and her mother Mildred LaVerne Meredith; one grandson Tre’Von Lutrell Edmonds; one brother Thomas C. Bullock, Jr. (Stella) of South Hill, VA; three sisters Gloria Jean Kinnel of New Jersey, Ersell Bullock-Dreuitt of Skippers, VA and Eunice D. Bullock of Broadnax, VA; five nieces Tamika Dreuitt-Brooks (David) of Boydton, VA, Janet Bullock of Broadnax, VA, Nottia Bullock of Brunswick County, VA, Brittany Bullock of Skippers, VA and Pamela Robertson of Crewe, VA; five nephews John Kinnel (Gloria) of South Hill, VA, Thomas Bullock III (Kimberly) of Glen Allen, VA, Shelton Kinnel (Melissa) of Maryland, Brian Bullock of South Hill, VA and Eddie Bullock of Newport News, VA; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, Crewe. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
