Obituary for Bessie Phillips
Bessie Ruth Phillips was born on June 6, 1948 in Burkeville, Virginia to the late Leroy and Hester Price. She was one of fourteen beautiful children. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her late-husband, James Albert Phillips Sr., her son, Russell Price and nine siblings.
Bessie enjoyed attending church, singing amongst the choir, completing crossword puzzles, talking on the phone with her best friend & sister Mae Robertson, as well as spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bessie also enjoy spending time with her sister Alice during the summer as well as attending family gatherings at Connie (who she affectionately referred to as "Skill") and Winnie's house.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, seven devoted children, Lonnie Price (Annie), Janice Goings, Catina Price (Stephone), Mary Jackson (Herbert), Jamie Anderson (Adam), Jacqueline Phillips, and James Phillips, Jr. (Edna); four sisters, Constance Prince, Winnie Price, Mae Robertson and Alice Jackson; fifteen grandchildren, Karon, Shakida, Cierre, Ashley, Dominique, Melvin, Cedric, Dwight, Kevin, Shaquesha, Montel, Enfinatie, JaQuel, Jeremiah, JaNiya and Jasiah; fourteen great-grandchildren, two dedicated nieces/children, Darlene & Yvette and a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at Yielding Zion Baptist Church, Burkeville, VA. Interment Jackson Cemetery, Crewe, VA.
