Obituary for Joseph 'Joe' Ellis
Joseph "Joe" Ellis passed away peacefully on February 23, 2018 in Richmond, VA. Joe was born in Chesterfield County to the late Margaret Smallwood and George Ellis. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Lorraine Ellis. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Deborah Smith (Jerome), Pamela Hazelwood (Chris) and JoAnn Lewis (Curtis); five grandchildren, Janai, Briana, Jovone’, Jonae and Jerome Jr.; three brothers, three sisters (devoted Mary Washington); one brother-in-law; nieces, nephews and devoted friend Lawrence Clarke.

Joe loved spending time with his family. He was a hardworking, successful businessman who owned Joe’s Auto Service for over 50 years. He also enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Antioch Baptist Church, 1059 Dorset Rd. Powhatan, VA 23139 where he will lie in state one hour before services. Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor III officiating. Interment at church cemetery.
