Obituary for Doris Thomas Harris
Doris Thomas Lee Harris departed this life on Monday, February 19, 2019 in Baltimore, MD after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Willie and Rowena Lee, she was born May 12, 1931.
Doris attended Nottoway County public school. At an early age she joined Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church. She was married to Ernest E. Harris (he preceded her in death) and to this union four children were born.
Doris enjoyed her life. She attended Graceway Church in Baltimore, MD. She was an active participant at John Hopkins Adult Day Care, where she brought so much love, laughter and joy to everyone she met. The joy of her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by one son James Edward Harris. She is survived by two daughters, Ernestine Baylor-Wills (Paul) of Baltimore, MD and Gwendolyn H. Johnson (Charles) of Crewe, VA; one son Lawrence E. Harris of Blackstone, VA; four granddaughters, LaTonya Baylor, DeVona Wilson, Freda Johnson and LaKeisha Jesters; one grandson, Lawrence Harris Jr.; ten great grandchildren; one daughter of the heart, Angie Noira Castro; three brothers-in-law, all of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
