Obituary for Lillian V. Blackwell
Lillian Blackwell Fitzgerald, daughter of the late Samuel and Virginia Blackwell and granddaughter of the late James Wilson, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her residence.
Our cherished mother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend went to be with the Lord forever more.
She was a native of Blackstone, Virginia, who graduated from Luther H. Foster High School – Class of 1970. Lillian received an Associate’s degree from Southside Community College, and also worked for QVC in Chesapeake, VA for 181/2 years.
The youngest of four children, she leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Samantha L. Fitzgerald; one sister Mildred Hilliard (Thomas); two brothers Samuel and Gus, Sr. (Shirley); one aunt Ruth McAllister; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Many more relatives, friends, and neighbors. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Service Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
