Obituary for Vernell P. Fitzgerald
On Friday, December 29, 2017 at Johnston Willis Hospital, surrounded by her children, Vernell (Nell) Rosetta Pegram Fitzgerald, took her last breath and entered into eternal rest.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Bossie Edward Fitzgerald, Jr.; her parents, Fannie Pegram Lyles and Lloyd Archer, Sr.; and her grandmother Sara Pegram Faulkner.
Nell attended Amelia County Public Schools. She was baptized at Little Bethel Baptist Church. She spent her career as a cook and dietary supervisor until her health failed. She never met a stranger and was the life of the party and will always be remembered for her smile and laughter.
Leaving to cherish precious memories: her children, Taylora Suber (Charles), Angela, Thomas Jr,. And Latrice Manuel; devoted friend and father of her children, Thomas Manuel Sr.; devoted grandfather, James N. Faulkner; aunts and uncles who were also raised as siblings, James E. and Jesse Faulkner, Virginia Ann Robinson, Grace P. Mitchell (Franklin), and devoted Gracie F. Mitchell (Craig). Also leaving memories to sisters and brothers, Mary Pegram (Benjamin), Martha Ann Eanes (Tracy), Antoine, Tonia and Christopher Archer; mother-in-law Daisy Fitzgerald; brothers and sisters-in-law; a host of uncles and aunts, devoted Helena Jefferson; she will be greatly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who committed themselves on a regular basis to her love, care and concern. Her children want you all to know that she loved everyone and if she was here, she would have kissed you all, leaving her red lipstick on your face to remember her. Also a special thanks to Donte’via Ray for the care she provided.
Funeral Services Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Amelia with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
