Obituary for Pauline H. Drayton
Mrs. Pauline Drayton was born in Manhattan, NY on January 23, 1926, to Thurman O. and Mary E. Morgan Person.
She was educated in the Nottoway County School System, where she graduated from the Nottoway Training High School. Her thirst for knowledge did not end there. As a wife and mother of nine children, Pauline continued to expand her knowledge by learning how to help provide for her family in whatever way she could. After graduating from high school, Pauline moved bock to New York where she continued raising her family, and working in the Hotel Industry. Pauline loved to travel and did so whenever she could, meeting new people and sharing her life experiences. Pauline had a passion for others and showed it in her devotion to her family and friends.
Pauline confessed Christ at an early age, being baptized and joining the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Victoria, VA, she later joined the New Bethel Baptist Church in Crewe, VA where she remained a member until the Lord called her home.
Pauline joined in Holy Matrimony with her loving husband, James Peets of New York until his death. From this union their family began with the birth of Warren, Allen, James (Jimmy) and William Peets. Pauline later joined in Holy Matrimony to her second husband and best friend, Frank Drayton and continued to grow their family with the birth of Kevin (Sonny, Johnny, Danny, Bea and Eleanor.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; sons, Warren, Allen, James Peets, Kevin (Sonny), Johnny, Danny Drayton; daughters, Bea and Eleanor Fowlkes; brothers, Everett (Bud), Thurman Jr., Harold, Oliver, Robert Person; sisters, Doris Robertson and Annie Bell.
Her loving memory will be cherished by her surviving son, William Peets of Rock-a-Way, NY; three sisters, Marion Jeffers of Wake Forest, NC, Shirley P.D. Pearmon of Crewe, VA and Mary L. Harris of Crewe, VA; one brother, James D. Person (Jimmy) of Crewe, VA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial Service Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 11:00AM at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone.
Interment private.
