Obituary for Elvis Lee Johnson
Elvis Lee Johnson was born February 11, 1962 in Crewe, VA to the late Constance Johnson and the late Charles Robertson. He was known to most as “Snake”; however, he was lovingly known as “Elvis” to his immediate family. After a valiant fight, he departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, VA.

He was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Crewe, VA at an early age.
Elvis was educated in the public school system of Nottoway County. Upon graduating from high school, Elvis spent several years serving in the United States Marine Corps, the United States Army and in the National Guards. Elvis loved serving in the military.

Elvis worked several years at Richfood, L.V. Harris and several other companies. He was known for his kind heart and for his love of the Washington Redskins. His grandchildren gave him great pleasure.

Elvis will be remembered for his ability to help anyone in need; no matter how hard the Job was.

Elvis was one of five children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe L. Johnson, Jr. (Jelly Bean). He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Mary Elizabeth (Blackstone), three children: a son, Brandon (Richmond, VA); two daughters: Dominique (Bunny) (Richmond, VA) and LaShawn Fitzgerald (Blackstone, VA), a loving and caring grandmother, Martha “Queen” Parker; eight grandchildren: Leila, Briel, Antonio, Meena, McKinley, Chamiska, Tamia and Unique; two brothers: Russell Johnson (Baltimore, MD) and Walter Robertson (Crewe, VA); three sisters: Avis Johnson, Jacqueline (Charles) Fowlkes and Audrey Mae Taylor all of Crewe, VA; three aunts: Cynthia (Stanley) Ball (Columbus, OH), Shirley Fowlkes (Crewe, VA) Thelma Randolph (Long Island, NY) ; one uncle: Aubrey “Billy” Parker (Crewe, VA); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
