Obituary for Harold D. Banks
On Friday, October 20, 2017, late in the evening with the setting of the sun, Harold Douglas Banks ("D-Dog"), our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend transitioned from earth to his Heavenly home.
Harold was born on September 8, 1941 to the late Linwood and Geneva Ruffin Banks in Amelia County, Virginia. He was educated in the public schools of Amelia. Later in life he confessed Christ and joined the Liberty Baptist Church.
Harold worked at Tarmac Cement, Inc. and retired after twenty plus years of service. He was a member of the Kings and Queens Social Club, and he loved to fish, play baseball, farming and spending time with his family and friends. He will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and William Banks; daughter, Wanda B. Spratley, and grandson, Damien Banks.
Harold leaves precious and loving memories to his loving wife of fifty-two years, Flora Irene Banks; two devoted daughters, Shirdine Harris (Michael) and Queneva Johnson (Mark); grandsons, Michael, Jr., Jamal, Tyrell (Necole), and Deion; granddaughters, Tanisha and Shawanna; five great-grandchildren of which one he called ‘his heart’ BRAYDEN; sister, Gloria Williams; brother, Marvin Banks; sisters-in-law, Clara Squires, Mary Jones (Johnny), and Frances Banks; brother-in-law, Archer Jones; host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, devoted friends, Harold Jones, Cecil Lewis and Joseph Ruffin; and his pet companion "Bay" Banks.
Funeral Service Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment church cemetery.
