Mr. Thomas Joseph Oliver entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Heritage Hall, Blackstone, VA.
Thomas was born to Marvin and Alberta Oliver on January 10, 1945 in Nottoway County, Virginia. He accepted Christ and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone, VA.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to his one true love, Virginia Dare Oliver on January 10, 1970. To this union they were blessed with two children.
Thomas was a was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as an artilleryman in Berlin, Germany. He was also employed at both Ft. Lee, Prince George, VA and Ft. Pickett, Blackstone, VA as a warehouse worker. He retired after 30 years of federal service
Thomas was nicknamed “Sunny” by his parents at an early age. The love of his life was his family. He lovingly called his daughters and nieces “SugaBoo”or “HuniBoo”. He also loved his motorcycles and old cars, especially his ’57 Chevy.
Thomas leaves a legacy of love and laughter. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife Virginia Oliver; daughters: Valerie Blakey (Kenny) and Shirlyn Oliver; grandchildren: Estephania Oliver, Tramaine Oliver, and Isis Blakey; his sisters: Evelyn Bolling (William), Martha Wilson (John) and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marvin and Alberta Oliver; and three brothers: James Oliver, Richard Oliver, and John Oliver Sr, and one sister Ann Oliver Cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment private.
