Obituary for Alaska Clements
On Sunday, April 10, 2022 while at The Laurels of University Park, Alaska Clements was released from his earthly life and went to be with his Heavenly Father after two days. Alaska was born on December 6, 1942 to the late Emily and Benjamin Clements in Amelia Courthouse Virginia.
Alaska was baptized at Liberty Baptist Church at an early age and looked forward to homecoming every August.
Alaska received his early education at Brick Church School in Amelia. He later attended a Trade School where he learned to be a Master Welder.
Alaska started his career working in Richmond, VA at CSX Railroad. He eventually started his own business “Clements Welding “ in Washington, DC were he lived for over 40 years until his health began to fail and he needed to be closer to his family.
Las as he was affectionately called was a Real character and a Ladies Man. However, he was an expert with a “raincoat”! Las grew up with a house full of siblings, so there was never a dull moment. His humor was like no other and it still lives in his nephews and nieces.
Alaska loved watching those then “Redskins” who later became “Deadskins” to him. He also enjoyed the night life and going to the beach. Alaska loved his family and was the one to call if you needed to know WHATEVER, he had the answer. Las took great pride in his appearance and loved his hats and caps and a flask in his suit pocket.
Alaska leaves to cherish his memories, one brother Charlie Clements of Alexandria, VA; three sisters Katherine Chestnut, Matilda Clements and Queen Reed all of Richmond, VA; one brother-n-law William Squires of Richmond, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
