Obituary for Robert E. Hardy
Robert Edward Hardy, son of the late James Edward Hardy and Lillian Hurt Hardy was born June 5, 1943.
Robert was baptized at an early age. He attended Nottoway County public schools and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School.
At the age of twenty-one, he married his bride in New York City.
Over the years, Robert was employed by Smyth’s Food Service, Inc. and Pat Dawson, Inc. as a warehouseman and tractor and trailer driver, with E and M Transportation Service as a health care taxi driver, and other local transportation companies.
In his spare time, he enjoyed music (the blues), traveling, fishing and socializing at the local “Hardees”.
Robert was a no non-sense, kindhearted man who loved his family and was loved by all who knew him.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 37 years, Shirley Hardy; two daughters, Shanta Hardy and Bernice Rhodes; two nephews he raised, Ronald Frisby and Morris Frisby; one brother, Floyd Hardy; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Hardy, Naomi Hardy and Ernestine Tucker; three brothers-in-law, Leon, Waverly and Ernest Abbott; one son-in-law, Joseph Rhodes; three grandchildren, Antoine Stokes, Phyllisha Rhodes and Amaree Parker; two great grandchildren, Amara Stokes and Antoine Stokes, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
