Lawrence Edward Owens, Sr., 85 of Amelia, VA is the son of Johnny and Polly Booth Owens. Lawrence was called home on February 16, 2021, at his residence surrounded by family and friends.
Lawrence joined Promise Land Baptist Church at an early age. He was employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation for 35 years. He attended Chula School in Amelia, Virginia. His hobby was fishing. He was a big fan of the Washington Redskins.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Corentha Epps Owens; parents; daughter, Julia Ann Wise; son, George White; brothers, Joseph Owens (Marjie Owens) and Linwood Owens; sisters, Alice Tyler and Julia Eanes and daughter in law, Jaqueline Owens.
Lawrence is survived by his sons, Reverend Christopher Owens (Angela Owens), Minister Lawrence Owens, Jr. (Elissa Owens), Deacon David Owens (Pastor Tara Owens) and Deacon Martin Owens; daughters, Minister Pinkie Royal (Deacon Clarence Royal) and Minister Josephine Jackson (Kenneth Jackson); twenty grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; sisters, Joann Jennings and Frances Ann Owens; brother, John Owens and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside & Interment: Monday, February 22, 2021, at 12noon at Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia, VA.
Public Viewing: Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 12noon to 5pm at Hawkes Funeral Home in Amelia, VA.
