Obituary for Edward L. Washington, Sr.
Mr. Edward Lee Washington, Sr. was born on January 7, 1934 to the late Greatless and Mariah Mitchell Washington. He was in pulpwood, Camp Pickett, Bat Mason and Brooke’s and Company for 20 plus years.

In 1961 he married the love of his life, Edna Shirley Washington; and from that union seven children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memory: six daughters, Shirley Booker, Frances Washington, Diane Williams (Eugene), Dorothy Harvey (William), Priscilla Mahan (Lester) and Karen Muse (James); one son Edward Washington, Jr. (Frances); a special person he thought of as a son, Lester Mahan; two sisters, Claudine Yates and Alma Dodson; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Edward became a loyal and faithful servant of Jehovah when he symbolized his dedication by water baptism in 1982. He loved Jehovah and was active in his service until his health started to fail him, but never stop talking about Jehovah and his promises. He looked forward to the time when he could see his dead loved ones again.

He was a quiet, yet humble man, full of strength and determination. He loved working in the yard. He loved to eat, (especially sweets). Edward loved his family (fleshly and spiritual). He was a man of few words until it came to speaking about his God, Jehovah.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Blackstone.

W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.
