Obituary for Barbara "Jean" Goodson
With the love of children surrounding her, Barbara “Jean” Goodson answered the Lord’s call home on Monday, September 14, 2009. Barbara was born on March 20, 1944 to the late David and Daisy Harris Jefferson of Amelia, Virginia.
At the age of twelve, she gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at Little Bethel Baptist Church. She attended the Amelia County school system where she enjoyed playing basketball.
On February 17, 1963 Barbara married Ralph Goodson (deceased) of White Plains, NY. During this union they had three children; Raquel (Sketta), Rahsharii (Herpy) and Rahshad (Poppa).
Barbara worked as the Assistant Specialty Accounts representative at Saks Fifth Avenue for ten years before returning to Virginia to raise her sons.
Barbara was known for her smile, listening ear, words of wisdom and advice, wanted and unwanted. She love fishing, gardening, cooking and sharing recipes. She passed on the love of cooking to two of her grandchildren. Barbara’s door was always open to family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Rahsharii and Rahshad; daughter, Raquel; two grandsons, Quaysean and Rahshad, Jr.; one granddaughter, Shania; two brothers, Ellis of New York and Larry (Pam) of Amelia, VA; two sisters, Caroline (John) Clements of Powhatan, Rose Ellis of Richmond, VA; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barbara’s Smile and laughter will truly be missed.
Funeral Services Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
