Obituary for Harry M. Jackson
HARRY MCDONALD JACKSON, son of the late Louise (Jackson) Woodley and step father Eli Woodley departed this life on Sunday, March 28, 2010 in Richmond, VA. He was born on November 28, 1954 in Amelia County.
He attended Amelia County public schools. Later he stayed in New York for many years, there he received his GED. He next moved to Washington, DC, then to Richmond, VA, then onto Charlotte, NC. After becoming ill he moved back to Amelia County to be near and with his family. He loved to change, travel and explore new places.
He has been employed with many good jobs, to name a few, Bryers Ice Cream Company; Amtrack Company; Coca Cola Bottling Company, and he last trained as a tractor trailer driver before sickness overcame him.
His favorite sport was football, any team was okay that played well.
He was nicknamed “Harry Hippie” by many who knew him because he was a very stylish dresser, loved stylish automobiles, and respectful lady friends. He was always a fun-loving, happy, outgoing person who truly loved his family. He wore a big smile or grin all the time for everyone he met whether he knew them or not. He touched the heart of so many people, words can’t describe them, so he will be greatly missed.
Harry leaves to cherish his memory: one devoted brother, John Green, Jr. (Easter Mae) of Jetersville; three sisters, Florence Jackson, Della Jackson, Betty Williams of Richmond, VA; two devoted sisters, Gracie Holloway of Amelia and Mary White of Crewe, VA; one devoted brother-in-law, George White; four step-sisters, Lois, Betty, Caroline, and Jean; one step-brother, Chub, all of Hampton, VA; two devoted nieces, Betsy Jackson of Richmond, VA and Maxine Stevenson of White Plains, NY; three devoted friends, Michael Johnson of Richmond, VA, James Holloway of Amelia, VA and Johnnie Hill of Crewe, VA; a very good friend, Terry Johnson of Farmville, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
