Obituary for Dorothy Griffin Coley
DOROTHY GRIFFIN COLEY (Mama Dot) was born January 20, 1945, the eighth child of Simuel and Florence Griffin. She departed this life Monday, May 31, 2010 at Henrico Doctors Hospital (Forest) Richmond, Virginia.
Dot attended school in Amelia, Virginia and graduated from Russell Grove High School in 1963. She furthered her studies at a business school in New York. She worked various jobs and retired form Capitol One in Richmond, Virginia. Dot joined the Union Branch Baptist Church at an early age, and was active until she moved to Richmond.
She was united in Matrimony to Robert A. Coley on August 31, 1991. They were a beautiful couple and enjoyed each other to the end. Dot will be missed and was loved by all who knew her.
Dot leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Robert A. Coley; two stepdaughters, Karen Coley (Frank) and Rosalyn Davis (Harold Jr.); three grandsons, Michael Edwards Jr., Justin and Jonathan Davis; two granddaughters, Brittany Edwards and Sydney Coley; one sister, Jane G. Richardson; two brothers, William (Rosa) and Richard (Lillie) Griffin; one aunt, Alice Goodman; mother-in-law, Julia Coley; four brothers-in-law, Maurice Mitchell, Earl, Edward (Dorothy) and Maurice (Anita) Coley; aunts-in-law; uncles-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, May 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Branch Baptist Church, Jetersville with interment in the church cemetery.
