Obituary for Sarah S. Hardy
On Monday evening, February 7, 2011, at her home, God called home to rest our loved one, SARAH S. HARDY. She was born on August 10, 1928 in Nottoway County, Virginia to the late Lucy Stokes and Marvin Wilson.
She attended Nottoway County Public School. She attended church at an early age. Later in life she joined New Poplar Mount Baptist Church.
During the early years of her life, she met and married William L. Hardy. She was a housewife. Sarah was known for her warm spirit, and enjoyed being around her loved ones and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Hardy, and sister Mary Lou Venable.
She leaves to mourn: five daughters, Florence Hardy, Bertha Hardy, Hazel Fields (Charles), Sallie Washington (Wayne) of Blackstone, VA and Donna Mason (Derek) of Stoney Creek, VA; four sons, Earl Hardy (Wilma) of Amelia, VA, Lawrence Hardy (Barbara), William Hardy Jr. (Barbara), and Paul Hardy (Beverly) of Blackstone, VA; one brother, Earl Jones (Annie); two brothers-in-law, Tom Hardy (Mable) and Irving Hardy of Tom River, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Martha Thomas and Virginia Hardy of Blackstone, VA; twenty-nine grandchildren, Carlton, Frieda, Sharon, Ellis, Kimberly, Shawn, Shelley, Kevin, Gary, Sarah, LaWanda, Lori, Theresa, Bernard, Paul Jr., Christina, DeShawn, Dominique, Lionel, Lionell, Shaquan, Marelle, RoKeisha, LaToya, Angie, Marvin, Tomeria, Chavon and Marvin; forty-three great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a devoted friend William Bragg; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at New Poplar Mount Baptist Church, Nottoway with interment in the church cemetery.
