Obituary for Amanda M. Pitchford

Peacefully Monday morning, May 16, 2011 at her home, Amanda B. Pitchford was guided by the beckoning of light to Almighty God from a world of pain and suffering to her eternal haven of peace and everlasting joy.
At an early age in her life, she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized and became a member of Promise Land Baptist Church in Amelia, Virginia. She was always a good servant and sung in the church choir for many years. She later joined Universal Cathedral Ministries.
Amanda was born of the late Fred and Rebecca Booker on March 9, 1924. Preceding her in death were sisters Rebecca Paige, Adel Jones, and Mary Jane Green; brothers Joshua, William Henry and Robert Booker. During her walk in life, she met and was united in holy matrimony to Calvin Pitchford for 30 years before he was called to live with the Lord in 1973. From this union, they were blessed with three children: Lois Thomas of Philadelphia, PA, Viola Royal (who preceded her in death), and Rosa Robinson of Amelia, VA.
Those left to cherish her legacy of love and devotion seven grand children: Sharon (Robinson) Jackson of Cleveland OH; Angela (Robinson) Barringer of Cleveland OH; Cozetta (Royal) Thomas of Edison, NJ; Bernadette Booker of Philadelphia, PA; Nicole Booker of Philadelphia PA; Dana (Booker) Oliver of Amelia VA. Left to mourn his grandma is one grandson Robert Royal of Amelia Virginia; twenty one great-grandchildren; four great- great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She also leaves a devoted and nurturing nurse, Sonya Goodman of Amelia Virginia.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Universal Cathedral in Amelia.
Funeral Services wll be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Zion Hill Presbyterian Church, Amelia with interment in the Promise Land Baptist Church Cemetery, Amelia.
