DAVID GRANT III, entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, June 2, 2011at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA. He was born in Burkeville, VA on August 5, 1961 to Sgt. David Grant, Jr., and Mrs. Lillie Christine Rather Grant.
David attended Denbigh Elementary and High School in Newport News, VA. He joined Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Sarah Coleman and served the Lord to the best of his ability.
David worked various jobs when he lived in Newport News, VA until he was disabled.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Renaldo L. Grant and an aunt, Mary E. Williams
He leaves to cherish and mourn his memory: the mother of his only child, Mornita Redmon, one son, Andre Terrell Dixion (Grant) one grandson, DaeSean Terrell Dixion (Grant), all of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Saundra V. Justice of Hampton, VA and Reba G. Berkley of Newport News, VA; three nieces, Tanisha (Chris) Williams of Newport News, VA, Amisha Rodgers of Hampton, VA and LaKisha Knight of Crewe, VA; two nephews, Mercedes and Siyani Knight; four great nieces, ShaQwanna Phoenix of Georgia, Diamiya Washington, Onyea Johnson of Newport News, VA and Renalyia Knight; eleven great nephews, Deandre Rodgers, Tyre Graines, Keyonte Rodgers, Kevyonne Jones, Antoine Johnson, Kiesh Rodgers of Hampton and Newport News, VA; Deveon Foster, KnyZail Lightner, Wisdom Lightner, Knowledge Coleman and Israel Knight of Crewe, VA; two aunts, Ms. Ida Rather and Ms. Thelma Rather of Crewe, VA; a host of loving relatives and friends and a second mother, Ms. Martha Parker.
Funeral Services Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Union Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Rather Family Cemetery, Crewe.
