Obituary for Mary E. Fowlkes
MARY ELIZABETH FOWLKES was born on February 20, 1969 and departed this life on September 11, 2011.  She was the only daughter and middle child born to Irene Branch Fowlkes and the late Percell Fowlkes.
She accepted Christ at Yielding Zion Baptist Church at an early age. As a member at Yielding Zion, she served as an usher and also worked with the Youth Ministry. She later joined Union Baptist Church.  She received her education at Nottoway County public schools and Southside Virginia Community College.  She worked at Hardee’s Restaurant for many years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Percell Fowlkes; uncles, Clarence Branch, Alvin Fowlkes Sr., Edward Branch and Bobby Fowlkes, Sr.
She leaves to cherish loving memories:  a loving and caring mother, Irene Branch Fowlkes of Blackstone, VA; her daughter, Otelia P. Fowlkes of Richmond, VA; her son, Markeil L. Fowlkes of Blackstone, VA; two grandsons, Stephan A. Fowlkes and Jarell D. Hurt of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Leon Branch of Hopewell, VA and Calvin P. Fowlkes (Yolanda) of Crewe, VA; five aunts, Mary Branch Johnson of Upper Marlboro, MD, Virginia Branch-Moultrie (Fredrick) of St. Helena, SC, Roberta Taylor of Burkeville, VA, Ann Williams of Blackstone, VA and Bernice Fowlkes of Blackstone, VA; two nephews, Elijuane and Jamien; seven nieces, Laura, Kanisha, Alisha, LaTisha, LaTasha, TyLynne and Ebony; three god children, Shaneise, Jamal, and Avante Hawkes; a devoted friend, Pamela Robertson of Crewe, VA; god parents, Richard and Minister Glenda Yates and John and Sylvia Stokes; other relatives, church family, and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Jackson Cemetery.
