Obituary for Lula Mae Easter
On July, 13, 2012, MRS. LULA MAE JONES EASTER was called to eternal rest at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. Lula was born on August 27, 1929 in Brunswick County. Lula was the daughter of the late Allen Jackson Jones and Miranda Stith of Meredithville, Virginia and step-mother, Mabel Susie Jones of Alberta, Virginia.
Lula attended Little Mount Baptist Church at an early age and later moved her membership to Mount Gazerine Baptist Church in Blackstone, Virginia where she was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending regular services.
Lula united in marriage to the late Silas Lorenzo Easter and to this union eight children were born.
Lula leaves to celebrate her memory five daughters: Lula Grant (Victoria), Gracie Beasley (Keysville), Joyce Foster (James) of Blackstone, Betty Fulgham (Jeffrey) of Hampton, and Helen Jefferson (Howard) of Hampton and three sons: George (Oklahoma City), James (Mary) of Prince George and Richard (Diane) of Richmond; two sisters Betty Spratley (Blackstone) and Sarah Fields (Wilson, N.C); two brothers: Jackson David Jones (Brooklyn, NY) and Ashton Jones (Bridgeport, CT), seventeen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-laws, Albert Easter (Mary Sue) of Lawrenceville, Virginia and Robert Spratley (Hattie) of Blackstone; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family will visit with friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
