Obituary for William Jr. Benjamin
William “Junior” began his journey on March 1, 1940 when he was born to William Benjamin Sr. and Thelma Murray.  He was the third of seven children, “Their Only Son”.
William attended school in Burton, SC where he was born.  When Junior moved to New York, he began working at a mechanic shop owned by his uncle Benny.  His passion and love was fixing cars.  This became a hobby of his.
In 1960, he met and married the love of his life. The wonderful Betty, who preceded him in death welcomed him into his glorious home in heaven.
Junior landed on a job as a long distant truck driver for one of the largest companies in New Jersey, Tunnel Barrel and Drum.  Junior was a hard working man and didn’t mind working because he wanted the best for his wife and  children.
Junior loved his family and all people, especially children.  He was that man you could call at any hour if you needed to do so.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Junior was a member  under the leadership of Reverend Abraham Brown of the House of Faith Church in Brooklyn, NY.  After relocating to Blackstone, VA he became a member of Spirit of Life Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Kippy Lundy.
On Monday, December 31, 2012 Junior’s earthly journey would come to an end as God saw fit to call him home.
To cherish his memories and forever miss his presence, he leaves:  four daughters, Modesty Sanders, Audrey and Sureena Benjamin of Blackstone, VA and Delores Smalls of Chesterfield, VA; six sons, George, Clyde, Jonathan, Alking, Robert and William II Benjamin; two sons-in-law, James Sander and James Smalls, Sr.; eight grandchildren, Randal, James Jr., Jamilla, Ebony, Michelle, Sir, Gavynn; one granddaughter-in-law, Lilas; JaiVeon, one of six great grandchildren; six sisters, Willie Mae Holmes, Rosetta Jenkins of Queens, NY, Ether Curtain, Barbara Benjamin of South Carolina, Alice Roberts and Elaine Tolliver of Long Beach, CA; four brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
