Obituary for Lola Foster Anderson
Lola Foster Anderson departed this life on August 25, 2015, at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA. She was born on July 16, 1921, to the late Amanda and Vernon Foster. She was the middle child of a family of thirteen and was the last to survive.
Lola grew up in the Chester Grove Community and joined the Chester Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She was a faithful member and attended regularly until she became too ill to travel. She served many years as Church Clerk, and she was a dedicated member of the Missions Ministry.
Lola attended Chester Grove Elementary School and Russell Grove High School. Later in life she received her GED Certificate and became a teacher’s aid in the Amelia County Elementary School, where she worked until she retired. Many students were blessed by her assistance, and all, teachers and students, came to love her.
She was married to the late John O. Anderson and was a loving wife to him until he died in 1981. This union produced one son, Tyrone, who, although he lived far away in California, was a loving and dutiful son.
Lola spent the last years of her life at Brookview Lodge in Farmville, where she was happy and made many friends with other residents and staff. When her health finally failed her, she was moved to the Holly Manor Nursing Home, where she was well cared for until her death. Up until the very last, she took great care and pride in her appearance and did her own laundry as long as she was able.
Lola was a friendly, loving and caring person who made friends wherever she went. She was greatly admired and will be greatly missed.
Remaining to cherish her memory are:Â her son, Tyrone C. Anderson; daughter-in-law, Theresa Butler Anderson; granddaughter, Tiffany Elise Anderson; devoted companion and special friend, Spencer Booker; devoted nieces, Mary Hunt and Dorothy Anderson; devoted great nieces, Marinda Pinkney and Jacqueline Chandler; devoted cousin, Betty Foster; devoted great nephew, John Johnson; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
