Obituary for Herbert S. Maddux, Jr.
On Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the beauty of a rare winter’s day, God saw that his son had grown weak. He whispered “Take my hand an I will lead you home.” Knowing that his family was with him, he peacefully laid his head back and allowed God to guide him to a place of peace and rest.
Herbert S. Maddux, Jr. was born on February 20, 1952 as the oldest of three children to Jessie and the late Herbert S. Maddux Sr. Michael accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Michael was known for his friendliness and willingness to help anyone at any time. Although his given name was Herbert he was known by most by Michael or Herb. You could call on him to fix or tinker with almost anything, especially a kerosene heater. There was rarely a place he would go that he didn’t know someone or wouldn’t find someone to talk to. Michael was full of life and fun and seldom greeted you without a smile.
Michael is survived by family and friends that he loved and loved him dearly: children Trina (Oxnard, California) and Michael (Jennifer) Maddux; mother Jessie S. Maddux; brother Zachary Maddux; sister Rachel Maddux; niece Dominique Maddux-Jackson, granddaughters Shelby, Shasia, and Sadaria; two uncles, Ashur Maddux (Lunette) and Claiborne Maddux; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
