Obituary for Zolia M. McCormick
ZOLIA MARIE MCCORMICK departed this life on Saturday, July 31, 2010. She was born on April 2, 1941 to the late Thomas and Martha Adams. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Green and brother, Ralph Adams. Zolia was the third of seven children.
She grew up in Nottoway County, Virginia, later moving to New Jersey. Zolia was educated at Luther H. Foster High, Crewe, Virginia and Hudson Adult Educational Technical School in Hackensack, New Jersey.
She spent her 12 years as a dedicated supervisor at Mellon Securities Transfer Service in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. As well as a dedicated employer and friend of Shiloh Lodge #53 in Englewood, New Jersey.
As a young woman she married Scott McCormick and earlier adult years she was devoted to raising her children, nieces, nephews and children she took in which are adults today.
She was a kind hearted person who often gave words of wisdom and encouragement to everyone she met. She enjoyed worshipping and praising the Lord, cooking for anyone that wanted a meal. She was a very outgoing, outspoken no nonsense woman. She was the glue that held our family together. In other words, THE BOSS!
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving, devoted husband of 37 years (Scott), two daughters, Kelli and Lisa; four loving grandchildren, Da’Ron, Da’Ronda, Anthony and Jayden; a second special mother to, Zelma, Paulette and many others; mother-in-law, Lizzy McCormick; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Mary A. Lewis and Chris Smith (William); a brother, Lynn Adams all of Crewe; six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; four aunts, Corrine Vaughan, Rosa Walker, Lois Reynolds (Joe) and Shirley Parker; three uncles, Henry Williams, Sergeant-Major Eddie B. Branch (Delois) and Hubert Gallion; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins; three devoted best friends, Shirley Arrington and Jean Poe of NJ and Hazel Fowlkes of VA.
The family will visist with friends Wednesday, August 4, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Nottoway Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Adams Family Cemetery, Crewe.
