Obituary for Zachary J. Maddux
Zachary James Maddux died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at his home in Blackstone, Virginia. Zachary was born on July 15, 1956, the middle child of Jessie and the late Herbert S. Maddux Sr; his late brother Herbert (Michael) S. Maddux, Jr. was the oldest of three.

Zachary accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church where he served as a junior usher. He was known for his straightforward, no-nonsense approach. Although his given name was Zachary, he was known by most as Zach. Zachary was introverted and could be found most times at home “out back”.

Zach was survived by family and friends that he loved and loved him dearly: mother Jessie S. Maddux; sister Rachel R. Maddux; nieces Dominique Maddux-Jackson and Trina Maddux, nephew Michael (Jennifer) Maddux, one uncle Ashur (Lunette) Maddux; a great niece Meichelle E. Williams; three faithful cousins with whom he’d been close since childhood, John Bates, Jr., Keith Johnson and James (Jimmie) Wynn; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1:00PM at W. E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, 504 East St., Blackstone. Interment private.
