Obituary for Willie L. McCord
On the wings of faith, Willie made his transition from his earthly dwelling to the promise of eternal rest. Willie, affectionately referred to by the name of Willie Lee or “Beaver” was born to William and Corrine McCord.

Willie attended public school in Elloree, SC. After moving to Santee, SC, Willie enrolled into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he moved to New York, there he met “Mincy” and made her his wife.

After moving to Virginia, Willie joined, was baptized and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he attended faithfully. He was a member of the senior choir and served as treasurer.

Willie retired from the City of Richmond. He loved reading his Daily Word, fishing, working on any car, truck, heavy equipment, talking on the phone to Kutta, Lester and Larry, which made his day.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Corrine; brothers, Sonny and Frank; stepson, Travis. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mincy; son, Lamont; daughter, Crystal; sisters, Mary, Rosa (Larry) and Ann (Willie); brother, Lester; grandchildren, great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Viewing Monday, March 15, 2021 from 12 to 7PM at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Amelia and Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 11AM to 6PM a walk through viewing at Mimms Funeral Service, 1827 Hull St., Richmond.

Funeral Services Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 12PM at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Amelia. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
