Obituary for Willie C. Sydnor
WILLIE C. SYDNOR was born August 8, 1924 to the late Arther and Berta Davis Sydnor in Halifax, VA. He moved to Burkeville in 1931.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Morning Star Baptist Church where he was on the Usher Board and served as Trustee for many years. He received his education in the Nottoway School system.
He worked on the farm and his public work was at the Burkeville Veneer Company and Holly Farms, which is now Tyson’s, from which he retired after many years.
In 1951, he married Sophronia Williams. There were no children born to this union.
Willie was preceded in death by his loving wife Sophronia; five brothers, Howard, Major, Joe, Arther and Linwood Sydnor; two sisters, Agnes Thomas and Estelle Jackson.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories: two brothers, Edward and Jesse Sydnor; two step daughters, Alice (James) Oliver and Cora Sydnor; devoted nephews and niece whom he raised, Fred Harold III, Harrison Sydnor and Jean Harold; devoted niece and nephew, Gerldine Sydnor and Aaron Sydnor; three aunts; a very close friend, Dandy Hubbard and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Friday, October 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, Burkeville with interment in the church cemetery.
