Obituary for William Sr. Walker
William “Nuck” Walker, Sr. departed this life on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Centra Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, VA. Son of the late James and Marie Hardy Walker, he was born February 13, 1945 in Nottoway County, VA.
William joined Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church. He was educated in the Nottoway County Schools and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in 1963. He later studied brick laying at Southside Skill Center in Crewe, VA.
William served in the United States Marine Corp for four years during which he received several medals: National Defense Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifleman Specialty Medal.
William held several jobs during his lifetime, namely, Levi Strauss, Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, Payne and Payne Construction, and as a security officer. His hobbies were fishing and sports.
William leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Ludelia Walker of Blackstone; sons, William Walker, Jr. (Crystal) of Blackstone, VA and Samuel Walker (Sonia) of Pennsylvania; daughter, Shelita Walker (Geraldine) of Blackstone, VA; grandchildren, Jamal Walker, Jermaine Walker, Ashley Walker, Lisa Stokes, Kyrra, Sera, Gabriel, Nezaeh; and one on the way; brothers, Mark Walker and Richard Walker; sister, Lillie Mae Shuler of Bronx, NY; sisters-in-law, Anglela Blackwell of Greensboro, NC, Janice Rohn (Richard) of Fayetteville, NC and Maxcine Walker of Petersburg, VA; devoted niece, Leslie Palmer; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
