Obituary for William Owens
Gently and Peacefully our family circle was broken on Wednesday, August 09, 2023. Beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Nephew, Cousin & Friend. William quietly received his eternal freedom from this world and was ushered into his eternal home.
WILLIAM OWENS, son of the late Charlie & Rachel Cooper Owens was born March 02, 1948 in Warfield, VA. William was an only child, lovingly referred to as "SKEETER" he confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Brunswick, VA. He was educated in the Brunswick County School System and graduated from James Solomon Russell High School in 1966. Upon graduation William went on to join The Marine Corp and served 2 tours in Vietnam.
WILLIAM was a very loving and giving person, always thinking of others. Anytime someone had car trouble he was your go-to mechanic. Everyone that knew William, knew he had a passion for fishing that kept him going, and what a fisherman he was, there wasn't a fishing hole in or out of the Metro Richmond area he didn't know.
WILLIAM relocated to Baltimore Maryland after completing his Military Career where he lived and took care of his mother, until he returned to Richmond, VA in 2003 and met the LOVE of his LIFE Margrett Ann & they were united in Holy Matrimony on February 14, 2006. "BOODAE" as he affectionately called her was truly the LOVE of his LIFE.
WILLIAM was preceded in death by his only grandson: William Elder Jr & his devoted Mother-In-Law Mary Wallace. He leaves to cherish fond memories his LOVING & DEVOTED WIFE- Margrett Ann; CHILDREN, William Elder (Pamela) of Richmond, VA & Felish Jones of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Rachel Elder of Manhattan, NY, Rainbow Storm of Richmond, VA, Raquiah Chapman & Amiah Coxton of Charlotte, NC; great granddaughters, Rayla Elder, Nai'ah Chapman & Ni'Lah Chapman; his 2BC Church Family; aunts, Ernestine, Estelle, Eliza, Estella, Vivian, & Evelyn; uncles, Harrison & Charlie; a host of cousins & friends (Especially Noted) James Peterson, Tom Royal, Kevin Evans, Charlie White, Mike Johnson, Jewel Elder, Doris Hughes; and his Fishing Crew, Wendell Cheatham, Corey Branch, Mike Henderson, Al Nash, and Mr. Mike; along with a host of other friends.
Memorial Services Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Second Baptist Church, Richmond, VA.
