We are celebrating the life of our loved one, William Lewis Hawkes, Sr., who went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2023, on hospice care at his daughter’s home in Farmville, VA.
William was educated in the Nottoway County Public School System. He worked at Nottoway Lumber from 1981 until it’s closing in 2004. He then went on to work at Brandermill Woods from 2004 until 2009.
“Bull” as he was affectionately called, loved cooking and being around his family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie M. Hawkes; parents, William and Margaret (Louise) Hawkes; grandmother, Susie Williams; and sister, Connie Hawkes.
His memory will be cherished by his son, William L. Hawkes, Jr. (Tonya Tyson); daughters, Shirwilsha T. Cordell (Antwain Cordell), Stewaun I. Booker (Terrell Johnson), Toccaro D. Booker, Elizabeth Hawkes; stepsons, Kevin Tucker, Sr. (Bobbi) and Jack Jones, III; grandchildren, Isaiah Cordell, Iyana Cordell, Daitwaine Cordell, Tariah Johnson, O’Neil Robinson, Amaya Jones; sister, Denise Vaughan; brothers, Wayne Hawkes, Andre Hawkes; aunts, Dorothy Holmes, Janice (Diane) Williams; three nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
