Obituary for William H. Jefferson
William Henry Jefferson, transitioned on December 24, 2021. He was born on December 23, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to Daniel and Inez (Jennings) Jefferson.
William was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Michael Jefferson; and his sisters, Carol Jefferson and Laura Nunnally. William is survived by his beloved wife or 57 years, Dorothy (Nelson) Jefferson; two children, William Benjamin Jefferson (wife Michele) and Emily Danielle King; three grandchildren, Cameron (wife Courtney) Jefferson, Noah Jefferson and Joshua Jefferson; five siblings, Clarence (wife Judith) Jefferson, Carolyn (husband the late Charles) Beverly, Inez (husband, the late Milton) Jeter, Herman Jefferson and Hermania Lewis; sister-in-law, Hazel Jefferson, brother-in-law, Calvin Nunnally; and a host of family members and friends.

William attended Luther H Foster High School and graduated in 1961. He moved to New York for a fresh start.  He was then drafted to the Army branch of the United States Military where he earned a Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and an Expert Rifle Badge while serving his duty in the Vietnam War.  William remained in the military until he received an honorable discharge in 1966.
He met the love of his life in 1962, Dorothy Ann Nelson, and the two married December 19, 1964.  The couple had two children.  William was a great provider for his family while he worked various jobs before landing a position at South Western Publishing House where he worked and thrived.  That company played a vital role in the family of four relocating to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1987 where he retired as a Supervisor in the late 90’s.  Unable to sit for too long, William later restarted his career at with F&W Publications until retirement.
William’s favorite pastime was watching television, especially related to politics and football. He grew an affection for the Cincinnati Bengals.  With the new changes to the team, he felt they were Super Bowl bound. He would be happy to know that they have clinched the AFC North with a 10-6 record.  Who Dey!

He is truly missed and will forever live in our hearts.
