He was the son of Helen Coleman Harper and John Fowlkes, they both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Lonnie Harper, Sr. and sister, Lovada Dodson.
He was educated in the Nottoway County School System, graduating with the class of 1977. At an early age he accepted Christ and was a member of the Yielding Zion Baptist Church in Burkeville, VA.
After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and later the Virginia Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer, before serving the remainder of his career as a Certified Security Officer.
“Boo” leaves to cherish his memory: his brothers and sisters, Glenda (Richard), James (Lillian), Sylvia (John), Nellie (Russell), Theodore (Cynthia), Mary and Rachel. Gladys (Freddie), Barbara, Lonnie Jr., LaRue (Sharon), George (Marie) and Lisa; his god-aunt, Mattie Redding of Maryland; his devoted cousins, Tyrice Branch and Junious Oliver; his beloved Gwen; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
