Obituary for Webster D. Hawkes
God in his infinite wisdom called Webster Davis Hawkes to eternal rest on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center in Richmond, VA.

Webster Davis Hawkes was born to the late Dolphus and Emma Jane Hawkes on December 22, 1922.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Hawkes and Lincoln Hawkes; three sisters, Erma Hobbs, Cornelius and Lora Jane Hobbs.

He was married to the late Annie Esther Hawkes and to this union seven children were born.  His daughter, Yvonne Hawkes, son-in-law, Lee Royal Hawkes and grandsons, Alton Hawkes, Jr. and Shawn Hawkes, Sr. preceded him in death.

He was baptized at an early age at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church, Blackstone, VA where he served faithfully on the Usher Board.  He was a Veteran in the Marine Corps.  After many years of service with Kenlea Industries he retired at he age of 65 in 1987.

"Web" was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.  He left a great legacy and influence on his family and touched each of them in a very special way.

He leaves to mourn: three daughters, Theresa Williams (Ralph), Debbie Lee (James), Charlene Johnson (Lewis) and three sons, Kermit Hawkes, Sr. (Lucy), Alton Hawkes, Sr. and Darrell Hawkes (Lisa); fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Johnson, one brother, Adolphus Hawkes (Alice), sister-in-law, Polly Hawkes; one uncle, Alvin Hawkes and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

​Funeral Services Friday, July 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment to follow in the Poplar Lawn Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackstone.
