Obituary for Wayne M. Stokes
WAYNE MILTON STOKES, son of William Stokes and the late Delores Stokes departed this life on November 13, 2011 in Blackstone, VA. He was born June 13, 1963 in Baltimore Sinai Hospital.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ulysses Butler, brother-in-law, John A. Carroll III, both of Baltimore, MD and his god-mother, Betty Benjamin of Blackstone, VA.
Wayne was baptized on June 24, 1973 at Fountain Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD. As a young child, Wayne enjoyed fishing and crabbing at the Baltimore Harbor. He attended the Nottoway County Public School System.
Wayne was well known in his community and impacted many people while walking through life. He loved hanging out with his nephews, leaving places in one car and yelling “Niecie” or “Nephew” to another as he pass by.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving father William (Hermenia) Stokes of Blackstone, VA; his devoted children, Atrina Smith of Culpeper, VA and Mario (MarKesha) Royal of Amelia, VA; four brothers, Tyrone Butler of Baltimore, MD, Cecil (Gloria) Stokes, Anthony (Stacey) Stokes, both of Scottsburg, VA and Demarcus Stokes of Kenbridge, VA; two sisters Tanya Carroll of Baltimore, MD and Shantael Stokes of Macon, GA; six grandchildren, Dai’Zhon, Tah’Rionna Akers, Ah’Myah Dixon, Marquelle, Marquan and Marialle Royal; a loving, supporting Godfather, William Benjamin of Blackstone, VA; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
