Obituary for Walter Leroy Sellars, Sr.
WALTER LEROY SELLARS SR. on May 12, 2014, God pinned him with his wings at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, VA. On December 22, 1956, Walter was the second of five children born to Edna Ellington and the late John Ellington in Queens, N.Y. Walter was educated in New York City Public schools.
In 2004, Walter was united in marriage to Joyce Simpson.
He joined Shiloh Dinwiddie Baptist Church after relocating to Virginia. He later joined Patmos SDA Church, Farmville, VA in 2004 where he was a member of the diaconal ministry and missionary ministry. He was employed at Trout River Lumber Company in Crewe, Virginia for fifteen years as a supervisor.
Walter's favorite things in life were serving the LORD, loving his wife, children, and grandchildren, and lending a helping hand in whatever capacity he could.
Cherishing his fondest memories are: his wife, Joyce Sellars; sons, Walter Sellars, Jr. and Darryl Sellars; daughters, LaVette Sellars and Evette Sellars; three step sons, Shamont Simpson, Michael Simpson, and Matthew Simpson; one adopted son, Levar Graham; mother, Edna Ellington; four sisters, Barbara (Darnell) Freeman, Connie (Sherman) Dagner, Shelia (Archie Jr.) Malone, and Wendy (Raymond) Malone; one uncle, Peter Davis; one aunt, Alice Johnson; ten grandchildren, Serenity Sellars, Trinity Sellars, Darryl "DJ" Sellars, Ershawn Goodson, Amina Sellars, Essance Sellars, Jadiyn Edwards, Kavon Sellars, DaNyia Sellars and Zoey Sellars; two nephews and six nieces, a host of cousins and friends; mother-in-law, Mary Simpson, a devoted cousin, James Johsnon and devoted friends, Wallace Goodwin, Tony Brown, Marshell Brown and Derese Wynn.
