Obituary for Walter Lee Brown
Walter Lee Brown, 93 years old, son of the late Ollie Brown and Anna Wilson Brown departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2015. He was born in Amelia County, Virginia on August 30, 1921.
Walter attended school in Amelia County. He retired from the state of Virginia in 1995 where he was employed by Central State Hospital for twenty-seven years.
Walter loved playing the guitar and was the founder of the band called “Pop and The Soul Brothers” in the late 60’s and 70’s. The band featured himself, his four sons, and sometimes nephews and family friends. He was a devoted family man who loved driving only Ford brand cars and trucks.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Brown and son, Charles Edward Brown, but leaves behind a sister, Virgie Lee Brown Goodson; three sons, Robert (Diane) Brown, Ralph (Blondie) Brown and Henry (Lillie) Brown; three daughters, Katherine Brown, Mary Brown and Nancy (Roger) Tucker; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services for Mr. Walter Brown, 93 of Amelia will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone with interment to follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
