Obituary for Wallace Scott
After living a beautiful life, filled with much zest, love and laughter, God sent an angel to escort our father, grandfather, uncle and beloved cousin, Brother Wallace Scott home on Saturday morning, June 27, 2009.
Brother Scott was born February 2, 1912 to the late Arke Scott Bailey. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Lettie Ann Scott, one daughter, Pauline Scott and two brothers, James & Ernest Scott. He was also preceded in death by one devoted, son-in-law, Rev. Frank E. Tyler.
Brother Scott was a long time, dedicated member of the Promise Land Baptist church until his health failed. He served faithfully many years as trustee and church sexton. Brother Scott was employed, until his retirement, with the Amelia Highway Department, where he was loved and remembered by many throughout Amelia County.
Both Brother Scott and his wife, Lettie, will be forever remembered best for their love of every child that crossed their doors. No child was ever turned away, or left their home without feeling the compassion these two individuals shared for children. Brother Scott’s warm smile, and ever quick laugh will live in the heart’s of all of us, whose lives he touched. Fondly, by all his grandchildren, he will forever be remembered as, “Grandpa Short”.
He leaves to cherish sweet, wonderful memories of a long, well lived life, his two children, Minister Alice S. Tyler and Minister Richard (Dorothy) Robinson, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, a host of loving, devoted, nieces, nephews and cousins.
