Vincent Lamont Hawkes transitioned to his eternal home on the morning of Friday, October 4th, 2024. Vincent was born on March 3, 1963 to the late Jesse Hawkes, Sr. and Evelyn Hamlin Hawkes in Nottoway County. He was number eight of the eight children born to this union.
Vincent was a graduate of Nottoway High School. Vincent was a jack of all trades, which allowed him to work in various occupations. Before his injury in 2021, he was employed at Brandermill Woods for alittle over 10 years.
Vincent, a.k.a “Winkie” was 100% a Country Guy. He loved the peace and quiet of the country life and loved to be outside. He loved to joke around and laugh. He had a “little boy” smile and a hearty laugh that could switch to a “yeah right” smirk in a heartbeat. He loved music. In his younger days, you could hear the music as soon as you drove in the driveway only to go in the house and see him with headphones on listening to the music. His Mom would always tell him that he was going to go deaf, but fortunately his hearing was still pretty good until the end of his life. Vincent loved his family. He fought a good fight after his spinal cord injury in 2021 and defied the odds over and over until he was called to his eternal home on October 4th, 2024. He lived life to the beat of his own tune and in the end he said that he was okay with going to his eternal home.
Vincent was preceded in death by his Father Jesse Hawkes, Sr., his mother Evelyn Hamlin Hawkes, two brothers Reverend Bryant Hawkes and Jesse Hawkes, Jr., his sister Mary S. Tucker and a nephew, Jarvis Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter Brittany Boswell; sisters, Carolyn Williams (Joshua) and Viola Person (Thurman); brothers Reverend Kenneth Hawkes (Angelyn) and Don Hawkes (Brenda); sister-in-law Jacqueline Hawkes (the late Reverend Bryant Hawkes); Aunts: Frances Hawkes (the late Napoleon Hawkes) and Clara Hawkes (the late John Hawkes); Close Friends: Harry Hawkes, Edward Henderson, Richard Coleman and Mindy Smith; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
