Vicky Mann Pitchford gained her wings and went home to our Lord and Savior on April 10th, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Farmville, VA, to the late Sydnor Garnett Mann and the late Jacqueline Spence Mann, Vicky is survived by her ever-loving husband, Leon Linwood Pitchford, her daughter Carrie Watson-Wortman (David), stepson Leon Oliver (Carla), and two grandchildren, Ian S Johnston and Garnet S G Wortman.
Vicky will forever be remembered for her contagious smile. She was a loving, hardworking, and fun mother, a caring wife, a sweet grandma, and by most, as a teacher. Not just any teacher, but the “fun substitute” that every kid wanted. She taught for many years, beginning her career in Cumberland Co. VA, then teaching in Nottoway, Lunenburg, and Amelia counties in VA. She also taught GED classes at the former Fort Picket, in Blackstone, VA.
Vicky graduated from Crewe High School, class of 1969, where she enjoyed softball and being a majorette. She attended Chowan and Longwood Colleges, graduating in 1974.
Vicky enjoyed life and was quite the character. She was a person who loved all people and believed we were all one big family under God. She made many friends through the years, many she thought of as family, from central NC and the Outer Banks to central VA, particularly Crewe and Burkeville.
We will celebrate Vicky’s life with a memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Heritage Hall Nursing Home in her honor, either by donating funds or your time.
