Obituary for Vernetta J. Jennings
Vernetta “Nita” Johnson Jennings entered eternal rest at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA on April 7, 2013. She was born April 24, 1971 to Louise I. Johnson and Harold E. Taylor.
Vernetta was educated in the Nottoway County Public School System and graduated from Nottoway Senior High School with the class of 1991. she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and attended Mount Zion R.Z.U.A. Church in Blackstone, VA.
Vernetta was employed with Heritage Hall Nursing Home until an injury prevented her from working. She loved to keep children and loved all of her friends children.
Vernetta was preceded in death by her father, Harold E. Taylor; grandmother, Elsie Johnson; grandfather, Earl Johnson, Sr.; two uncles, James and Larry Johnson.
Vernetta leaves to cherish her fond memories: her loving husband, James C. Jennings, two loving and devoted sons, Tramaine and Antonio Jennings, one darling daughter that she loved unconditionally, Tia Jennings, all of Blackstone, VA; her loving and devoted mother, Louise I. “Weez” Johnson (David) of Blackstone/Hampton, VA; one beautiful granddaughter, Ava Marie Jennings, that she loved very much; two devoted aunts, Hattie Johnson and Anna Pearl Jesters and of Blackstone, VA; one uncle, Earl Johnson, Jr. of Kinder, LA; a very devoted God-Mother, Joyce D. Green of Blackstone, VA; one sister-in-law, Deborah Jennings of Blackstone; one brother-in-law, Anthony Friend of New York; devoted friends, Bridgette Yates, Kimberli Hill, Valerie Douglas, Audreynette Williams, Kay Blount, Steve Jennings and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 12 from 6 to 7 pm.
Funeral Services Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
