Obituary for Vernelle Elaine Royal
Early Thursday morning, August 19, 2021, Deaconess Vernelle Elaine Robinson Royal got on board of that Morning Train and traveled to her Heavenly Home.
Deaconess Vernelle Royal was born to the late Leon and Lucy Robinson on April 4, 1940. She was preceded in death by brothers, Mr. Richard Robinson and Mr. Leon Robinson, Jr.; sisters, Mrs. Mary Tyler, Mrs. Victoria Archer, Mrs. Rachel Hyde and Mrs. Dorothy Robinson.
At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was the President of the Senior Choir, Member of the Mass Choir, Chairman of the Deaconess Board, President of the Missionary Circle, President of the Flower Committee, President of the Booking and Engagement Program, Member of the Usher Board, Member of the Eastern Stars, Member of the Deacons Union of Amelia, Member of the Ministers and Deacons Leadership Conference of Amelia, Chesterfield and Powhatan Counties.
She was educated in the Russell Grove School systems. After graduating she met and was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life - Deacon Elwood Royal, Sr. and to this union two children wee born.
Deaconess Royal was so loved and will be sorely missed. She was, by nature, a joker, a witty woman with a sense of fun; never a bad day around her - you will laugh. She was a woman who unconditionally loved her family and was never afraid to speak her thoughts.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Deacon Elwood Royal, Sr.; son, Mr. Elwood Royal, Jr. (Shirley); daughter, Reverend Cynthia Sims (Jerry); granddaughters, Miss Paris Allen and Miss Shardae Royal; great granddaughter, Little Miss Nucirah Jones; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Alston and Mrs. Shirley White; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Marian Robinson; adopted daughter, Mrs. Virginia Falck; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, among them Ms. Lillie May Royal and Mrs. Florence Hill.
Service & Interment: Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 1pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Amelia, VA 23002
