Obituary for Vernell David Lewis, Jr.
Vernell David Lewis, Jr. was born on July 1, 1954 at Fort Pickett Army Base in Blackstone, Virginia. He was the oldest born to Vernell David Lewis Sr. and the late Annie Mae Lewis. He was affectionately called "David" by his family and friends. He departed this life suddenly on May 4, 2017.
David loved spending time with his family, especially at our family reunions. He was the life of the party wherever he went. At a young age, David was introduced to Christ by his parents.
David received his education from Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated in 1972 from Forest Park High School. After high school he attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. While attending high school David was employed with IHOP and later White Tower. After Graduating in 1972, he began his professional employment as a Machanist with Kopper Company.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memory: his father Vernell David Lewis Sr.; three children, Sherita, Ashley and Jordan; three brothers, Alonzo Sr. (Tonia), Darryl Sr. (Wendy) and Alex; four sisters Karen, Patrice, Roberta and Sherri; eight grandchildren, Shamyra Lewis, Jade, Jamira and Jouree Jenkins, Deaisha, Aaliyah, Dewayne Jr. and Amiya Pettigrew; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, god-child and special acquaintances.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Greater New Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD. Interment Lewis Family Cemetery, Crewe.
