Obituary for Verline R. Henderson
VERLINE ROSETTA HENDERSON, daughter of the late Reverend James W. Henderson and Deaconess Fannie M. Henderson was born June 23, 1951 and departed this life on Sunday, November 15, 2009.
Verline was educated in the Amelia County School system. She furthered her education at Virginia State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She later pursued her love of teaching for twenty-five years, retiring in June 2009. Verline was a member of the Petersburg Educator’s Association as well as the Virginia & National Educator’s Association. Verline received numerous teaching awards during her teaching career.
Verline joined Second Antioch Baptist Church at an early age. After leaving home she continued to worship with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA.
Verline leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Anthony Henderson of Ettrick, VA; one sister, Melinda MeKonnen of Washington, DC; three brothers, James Jr. (Sharon), Warren Levi of Amelia and Gary Henderson (Nita) of Chesterfield, VA; three uncles, Charles Henderson (Cora) of Powhatan, VA, Fred Henderson (Lulu) and Alvah Mitchell (Linda) of Amelia, VA; Aunts, Octavia Jones (William), Hattie Harris, Geneva Henderson, Christine Coleman; four nephews; one niece; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Friday, November 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Antioch Baptist Church, Powhatan with interment in the church cemetery.
