Obituary for Thomas T. Taylor, Sr.

Thomas T. Taylor, Sr., age 82 of Blackstone departed this life on December 31, 2012 at his home after a brief illness.  Son of the late Matthew Taylor and Georgia Taylor Fields, he was born February 28, 1930.
Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful and active member of Shiloh Baptist Church-Dinwiddie.  He served as Chairman of Trustees.
He served in the United States Army.  Thomas was employed by Sheffield Furniture Company of Blackstone from which he retired.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise Mahan Taylor of Heritage Hall, Blackstone; one son, Thomas Taylor, Jr.; two grandsons, Thomas James Taylor and Darrian Taylor; four siblings, Mary Alston of Mt. Vernon, NY, Annie Marie Ward (Haywood) of Mt. Vernon, NY, Lucille Ridley (Samuel) of Washington, DC and Susie Crawley of Dinwiddie; two brothers-in-law, William H. Mayhan of McKenney and Howard Mayhan of Farmville; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Blackwell (Thomas) of Petersburg; two aunts, Arlean Mikeal of Blackstone and Ruth Mikeal of Baltimore, MD; an aunt-in-law, Margaret Mahan of Burkeville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them, two devoted, Freeman Harris and James Knight of Blackstone.
Funeral Services Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church-Dinwiddie, with burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas Taylor, Sr. Memorial Fund at Benchmark Community Bank in Blackstone.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church-Dinwiddie, with burial in the church cemetery.
